Mooresville Library’s Summer Reading Program Begins June 1

The theme of this year's summer reading campaign is "A Universe of Stories," and is for all ages.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Mooresville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program that aims to reach a goal of 2 million pages read will kick off June 1 with storytelling, a world fair and a silent disco.

This year’s reading campaign, which is for all ages of readers, is “A Universe of Stories,” and will offer prizes, according to the library.

“Come celebrate the Summer Reading Kickoff on June 1 at 10 a.m. at MPL. Families are invited to see Mark Daniel, the Magical Storyteller at 11 a.m. in the Youth Services Community Room, and teens can kick off Summer Reading by enjoying the Silent Disco Party – a musical experience with headphones.

Come inside to experience the MPL World Fair, featuring people and materials from around the world. The festivities continue until 1 p.m.

Some of the other activities lined up this summer include a presentation for adults by NASA ambassador Toni Rice on June 25 and Cold Case: North Carolina’s only mummy (a weekly event for teens starting June 11).
