Mooresville Man Faces Child Pornography Charges After Dropbox Tip
A tip from Dropbox led authorities to arrest the 19-year-old and charge him with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A tip from a cloud storage provider to local authorities led to the arrest of a Mooresville man who now faces multiple charges of sexual exploitation of a minor after suspected child pornography was traced to his home on Spruce Street, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
The images involved small children, Capt. William Hamby told Patch.
According to a ICSO report, the Sheriff’s office was contacted in October 2018 by representatives of Dropbox, who told authorities that several images and videos that were possibly child pornography were uploaded to an account associated with the file sharing service.

“Dropbox captured the information attached to the account along with IP addresses, account name, and email address,” and the physical address was associated with a home in the 100 block of Spruce Street in Mooresville, ICSO said in a statement.
A detective with ICSO’s special victims’ unit obtained a search warrant for the Dropbox account, and interviewed the suspect, who was identified as Bradley Jay Pitts, 19.
