Mooresville Mother’s Day Forecast: Possible Hail, Flooding
For those in need of gift ideas for Mother's Day, an umbrella might be a safe bet. Here's why, according to the National Weather Service.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Mother’s Day weekend will be a soggy one, with thunderstorms bringing possible hail and flash flooding, according to forecasters.
Friday night, scattered thunderstorms are expected throughout the Charlotte metro region, with some possibly producing gusty winds, the National Weather Service said Friday morning in a hazardous weather outlook. Thunderstorms will continue Saturday, with heavy rainfall and possible isolated flooding.
Conditions will not improve on Sunday, forecasters said.

“Instability, moisture, and thunderstorm coverage will maximize on Sunday as a cold front approaches from the west,” NWS said. “Increasing winds through a deep layer of the atmosphere will make damaging winds and large hail possible with any thunderstorms.” Saturated ground could also lead to flash flooding, particularly in flood prone urban areas, it said.
By Monday afternoon, skies should clear up, ushering in plenty of sunshine for the week ahead.
