Morganton Pair Face List Of Drug Charges After I-40 Traffic Stop
Two Morganton, NC men face numerous drug charges after they were stopped for speeding on I-40, according to the sheriff's office.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — Two men from Morganton, North Carolina were recently arrested and now face a list of felony drug charges after they were pulled over for speeding on Interstate 40, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies stopped the BMW with Cedric James Brown, 23, and Chad Michael Sampson, 24 inside Nov. 26 on I-40 near mile marker 154. Both men are listed as living on Ridge Court in Morganton, according to ICSO.
“While speaking with the driver, and passenger about why they were stopped, deputies noticed a very strong odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle,” Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a statement.

Deputies searched the vehicle and located power cocaine in the glove box, marijuana packaged for sale, and Xanax pills. During a physical search of one of the suspects, deputies found marijuana wax “stuffed down the passenger’s pants.”
Brown and Simpson were taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. They were each charged with felony trafficking cocaine by possession; felony trafficking cocaine by transport; felony possession with intent to sale and deliver marijuana; felony possession of marijuana; misdemeanor possession of a Schedule III (Xanax) drug; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Secured bond for Brown was set at $300,000, and Sampson at $304,000.
