Motorcyclist Killed On Coddle Creek Highway Tuesday Night

Shawn Clifton Soules, 47, was killed on Coddle Creek Highway Tuesday night when a left turning car failed to yield.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday evening in Mooresville when a car failed to yield and turned into his path, according to reports.

Shawn Clifton Soules, 47, of Kannapolis was killed when the motorcycle he was driving south on Coddle Creek Highway was hit by a northbound BMW turning left off the roadway onto Johnson Dairy Road, the Mooresville Tribune reported.

The BMW was driven by Douglas Robert Catropa, 47, of Mooresville, the newspaper said.

Soules was wearing a helmet and was not speeding, according to authorities, Catropa was wearing a seatbelt and was not impaired or suspected to be distracted by a cell phone. An investigation is underway.
