NC Weather: Severe Storms, Possible Hail Expected Thursday
A cold front is expected to push strong thunderstorms with possible hail and damaging wind gusts into the Lake Norman region Thursday.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Thursday morning’s sunshine is expected to give way to storm clouds during the day, as strong thunderstorms with the potential for hail and damaging wind gusts move into the region this afternoon, according to forecasters.
The line of storms moving into western North Carolina into the piedmont is expected to develop ahead of a cold front, the National Weather Service warned May 10..
“Some of the thunderstorms are expected to be strong to severe with large hail and damaging wind gusts, mainly across the northern Upstate and the foothills and Piedmont of North Carolina,” NWS said in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin. “The storms should move away to the east by around sunset.”
