New Report On NC’s Best School Districts: How Mooresville Ranks

Niche.com's latest K-12 rankings for 2019 are out. (Spoiler alert: Mooreville's school district is ranked among the best in the state.)

MOORESVILLE, NC — Niche has ranked North Carolina’s best school districts for 2019 and the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools is the No.1 school district in the state.

The rankings were released this week by Niche as part of its 2019 K-12 rankings. Niche ranked a total of 43 school districts in North Carolina.

Mooresville City Schools were ranked No. 8 in the state, according to Niche. Here’s what Niche said about the district:

Mooresville City Schools is an above average, public school district located in Mooresville, NC. It has 6,130 students in grades PK, K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 18 to 1. According to state test scores, 61% of students are at least proficient in math and 57% in reading.

The Watauga County Schools, Union County Public Schools, Polk County Schools and Wak County Schools closed out the top five spots in the state.

According to Niche, the Jericho Union Free School District in Jericho, New York, is the best school district in the country overall. With an overall Niche grade of A+, the district received a grade of A+ in academics, teachers, clubs and activities, college prep and health and safety. In the category of diversity, Niche awarded the school district a B+.

To arrive at these rankings, Niche looked at data from the U.S. Department of Education as well as test scores, college data and ratings collected from Niche users. (You can read more about the methodology here.)
