Old Ham, Dirty Pans: Mooresville Kitchen Inspections
Recent kitchen inspections found a range of infractions, from old ham past its expiration to dirty pans.

MOORESVILLE, NC β Recent kitchen inspections docked points from health ratings at Mooresville restaurants, for infractions ranging from food kept at potentially hazardous temperatures to dirty kitchen equipment and vents with dust build-up.

At Great Wok, an inspection found strainer bowls stacked as clean with food still in them, and a dirty can opener. Dirty pans were also found at Novanta Pizzeria, and at Big Alβ Pub & Grubberia, ham was found in the pizza prep cooler that was past its 7-day shelf life.

Some of the lowest health scores were found at Buckoβs, located at 546 E. Plaza Drive and Ka Kitchen and Lounge, which is located at 138 Village View Drive.
Seven violations were reported at Buckoβs during its Aug. 17 inspection, which found cheese, lettuce, slaw and tomatoes were held at potentially hazardous temperatures and homemade ranch dressing that did not have a date. The inspector also found vent covers with dust build up.

At Ka Kitchen and Lounge, eight violations were found, according to the Aug. 20 report. In the kitchen, unwashed carrots, onions and mushrooms were found stored above cooked broccoli, salmon was found without records required to document parasite destruction, cutting boards and knives were found to only be washed once a day and several food items, such as lettuce, tofu and cheddar cheese, had to be thrown out because they were found at improper holding temperatures.
