2020 Primary: Iredell County Early Voting Ends Saturday

Early voting is underway throughout North Carolina, but ends this weekend. Here's what you need to know to vote early in Iredell County.

MOORESVILLE, NC — North Carolina’s Super Tuesday presidential primary election is next week, which means early voting underway in Iredell County will wrap up this weekend.

The presidential primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 3, and now is a good time for voters to prepare by checking deadlines, voter registration status and other information.

Below are dates to know and other guidelines for absentee voting and preparing for Election Day.

One-Stop Early Voting — Thursday, Feb. 13 through Saturday, Feb. 29
Early voting begins at a limited number of polling sites around the county throughout February. All sites are open during the same hours on early voting days.

Early Voting Dates and Hours:

  • Monday, Feb. 17 through Friday, Feb. 21: 8 a.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 24 through Friday, Feb. 28: 8 a.m. - 7: 30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Feb. 29: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Iredell County Early Voting Sites:

  • Iredell County Board of Elections — 203 Stockton Street Statesville,
  • War Memorial Building — 220 N. Maple Street Mooresville
  • Fairview United Methodist Church — 1430 Mecklenburg Hwy. Mooresville
  • Peninsula Baptist Church — 687 Brawley School Road Mooresville
  • Troutman Baptist Church — 305 Perry Road Troutman

“These are restricted polling places – These are privately owned buildings whose trustees allow the facility to be used as voting places on a voluntary basis,” the Board of Elections said. “As part of this agreement, they have requested that NO Election activities be permitted on their property.”


Absentee Voting By Mail — Jan. 13 through 5 p.m., March 3, 2020
Voters seeking an absentee ballot by mail may do so by filling out a ballot request form and returning it to the Iredell County Board of Elections at 203 Stockton Street, Statesville, NC 28677. The deadline to request a ballot is Feb. 25 at 5 p.m. For more information, call the Iredell County Board of Elections at 704-878-3140.

Voter Registration, Candidates and Election Day Voting
On Primary Election Day on March 3, polling places will be open from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. Iredell County voters may find their polling place here.

Photo ID Requirements
North Carolina voters will not be required to show photo identification in the March 3 election.

North Carolina's new voter identification law was temporarily blocked from implementation Feb. 18 by a three-judge panel on the North Carolina Court of Appeals, who said the new law, as written, was likely intended to racially discriminate against the state's African American voters.
