Roaches, Dirty Serving Utensils: Mooresville Kitchen Inspections

MOORESVILLE, NC — Health inspections in four Mooresville area restaurant kitchens last week turned up numerous violations, including dirty kitchen equipment, evidence of roaches and a chicken thermometer that wasn’t sanitized properly.

All recently inspected restaurants in Mooresville kept their “A” health rating, however multiple violations were found.

At Iron Grill, an inspection found dirty serving utensils and pans that were “visibly soiled,” and dry food storage shelves has “soil residue,” the inspection report said. At El Cerro Reyes, an employee’s used drink cup was spotted sitting on top of clean dishes, which had to be re-sanitized, and a container of beans was sitting on the floor.

An inspection at Bojangles found a roach in the outside walk-in unit, numerous kitchen areas in need of cleaning and that the chicken thermometer was only being cleaned and sanitized once a day instead of every four hours as required. And while Lancaster’s BBQ scored a near perfect health rating, an inspector found “a few metal pans with some food debris.”
