Speeding On I-77 Leads To $115K Drug Bust Of ‘Molly,’ Ecstasy

A driver pulled over for speeding on I-77 ended up in handcuffs after Iredell Sheriff's deputies found "Molly Rocks" and ecstasy pills.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A driver pulled over for speeding on I-77 and his passenger both ended up in handcuffs Monday after an Iredell County Sheriff’s Office drug dog found drugs in their SUV, according to the Sheriff’s office.

Member’s of ICSO’s Interstate Criminal Enforcement Team stopped the 2017 Ford Explorer with New York tags June 4 for speeding. A K9 officer arrived during the stop and conducted an open air search of the vehicle, and indicated narcotics were inside.

While conducting a search, the officers found narcotics with what it says was a street value of about $116,000 worth of narcotics, including 520 grams of MDMA “Molly Rocks” and 1,000 ecstasy pills, in addition to a small amount of marijuana. A .357 caliber handgun was also found with ammunition in the truck of the SUV.

Driver Kevin James Green and his passenger Nicholas Richard Rodman were both taken into custody and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center.

Green has been charged with MDMA possession and felony trafficking MDMA. His bond was set at $250,000.

Rodman was also charged with MDMA possession and trafficking, as well as felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, misdemeanor resisting a public officer and misdemeanor possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. His bond was set at $300,000.
