St. Patrick’s Day 2018: Mooresville Parade This Saturday

Downtown Mooresville will turn green Saturday afternoon during its annual St. Patrick's Day parade.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Downtown Mooresville will go green and feel a little Irish Saturday afternoon as the sounds of bagpipes and the pep of Irish dancers parade down Main Street for the town’s annual St. Patrick’s Day parade.

St. Patrick's Day falls on a Saturday this year, so expect extra revelry this year.

In Mooresville, this year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade features two Irish pipe bands, including the Mooresville’s own Fire Department Pipe Band. The parade, which begins at 3 p.m. on March 10, travels south on Main Street from Iredell Avenue to Center Avenue.

Also on hand will be Irish dancers and green cars, and the parade is also open to bands, dance and drill teams.

This year’s parade grand marshall will be Margaret Shannon, who is an Irish community leader in the Charlotte area, the Mooresville Tribune said.

St. Patrick’s Day festivities will last all day throughout the Queen City region. In Charlotte, uptown will turn green for the 22nd Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, which kicks off at 9th Street and North Tryon Street at 11 a.m. The Charlotte Goes Green Festival, which features Irish dancing and music, runs from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. More information about the festival's entertainment schedule can be found here.
