Strong Storms Possible In Mooresville As Cold Front Moves In
A cold front moving into the region could produce heavy downpours and severe storms in Mooresville into the evening, forecasters said.
MOORESVILLE, NC — A cold front moving into the region Tuesday could produce heavy downpours and severe storms in Mooresville into the evening, National Weather Service forecasters warned.
“Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be possible ahead of and a long a cold front this morning,” NWS said in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin. “Storms will be possible mainly south of the I-85 corridor, and along and east of the I-77 corridor, including the Charlotte Metro area. In addition to cloud-to-ground lightning and brief heavy downpours, a few storms could become strong to severe, with damaging winds the primary threat.”
The rain will begin to clear out later Tuesday, with clear skies expected through Thursday, NWS said. The likelihood of rain returns to the forecast Friday, continuing through the weekend.
