Suspect Wanted In Iredell Shooting Nabbed In Catawba County
A male suspect wanted for an Aug. 4 shooting in Statesville was caught in Catawba County, according to Sheriff Darren Campbell.

STATESVILLE, NC — An alleged suspect wanted for a reported shooting in Iredell County Saturday was located by authorities in Catawba County, according to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell.
On Aug. 4, Iredell deputies responded to the 2000 block of Island Ford Road in Statesville and found the victim, identified by ICSO as Robert Griggs, with multiple gunshot wounds. Griggs was treated by medical personnel on the scene and transported to North Carolina Baptist Hospital for additional medical care.
After interviewing witnesses, detectives identified a suspect and sent word to surrounding law enforcement agencies, Campbell said in an Aug. 6 statement.

The suspect, identified by Iredell County Sheriff’s Office as James Lattimore Springs, was located in Catawba County.

Detectives with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants and found evidence, such as spent shell casings and a handgun believed to be used in the shooting.
Springs was arrested and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. He has been charged with felony attempted murder, felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
His secured bond was set at $1 million.
