Suspect Wanted On Mooresville Child Rape Warrant Nabbed In SC
Richard Alan Kruger, 36, has been charged with statutory rape of a 12-year-old Mooresville girl, Iredell authorities said Thursday.
MOORESVILLE, NC — A 36-year-old man wanted on charges of statutory rape of a 12-year-old Mooresville girl has been arrested in South Carolina, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Richard Alan Kruger, 36, was arrested in Lexington County, South Carolina late last month and extradited to Iredell County June 10, ICSO said.
According to the sheriff’s office, a report was filed about the alleged incidents on May 8 after the victim told a staff member at her school that she had been sexually assaulted by a friend of the family living in her home from the summer of 2018 through May 7.

“The Iredell County Department of Social Service (DSS) was contacted, and made aware of the allegations,” ICSO said. “A safety plan was placed into effect by DSS due to the suspect living in the same home as the victim.”
The victim was interviewed and the suspect was identified as Kruger, ICSO said. Warrants for his arrest were filed again him based on evidence gathered during the investigation on charges of statutory rape of a child and nine counts of felony indecent liberties with a child.

Kruger was served with those warrants June 10 after he was extradited to Iredell County and his secured bond was set at $1 million.
