Town Of Mooresville Increasing Water, Sewer Deposits

As of Feb. 1, deposits for water and sewer services will be based on credit history and cost up to $200, according to town officials.

MOORESVILLE, NC — The Town of Mooresville has changed deposit requirements for new water and sewer customers, and will now be charging a deposit ranging from $0 to $200 to set up services, town officials said Wednesday. The amount will be determined by the customer’s credit history.

The changes, which go into effect Friday, Feb. 1, also apply to customers transferring services within town limits.

Says a statement issued by the Town of Mooresville: “Previously, the Town determined the amount of required deposit according to whether customers rented or owned their home, with renters paying a $50 deposit. Now, any required deposit will be administered to both owners and renters and will be based instead on the customer’s credit history, with a possibility of no deposit required, $100, or $200.”
