IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A Troutman man was arrested and now faces numerous charges after he sped through a driver’s license checkpoint in Statesville with a child in the vehicle, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

According to ICSO, deputies were manning the Aug. 7 checkpoint in the 400 block of Shiloh Road in Statesville when a vehicle sped through it, and the driver refused to stop.

“Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle by following it, however they quickly realized there was a small child in the vehicle and stopped following the vehicle due to the safety of the child,” ICSO said.
