Two Arrested For Trafficking Nearly 1K Units of Ecstasy On I-77

Two men pulled over for a traffic stop on Interstate 77 were arrested after deputies found nearly 1,000 doses of ecstasy in their vehicle.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Two men on their way to Pennsylvania were arrested along Interstate 77 in Iredell County Tuesday after deputies found marijuana and nearly 1,000 units of ecstasy in their vehicle, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said Thursday.

Deputies pulled over a black Nissan Rogue for a traffic violations Sept. 4 along I-77 near mile marker 65. The two men inside the vehicle — identified as Paris Christopher Blake, 24, and Jameal Colise Harmon, 24 — told the officer they were on their way to Pittsburgh.

“After speaking with the occupants further, deputies became suspicious about possible criminal conduct taking place and contacted a sheriff’s office canine unit to respond to the scene,” an ICSO report said.

The drug dog indicated to officers that narcotics were in the vehicle, which led deputies to search it, Campbell siad.

Inside they found 998 dosage units of ecstasy, a small amount of marijuana as well as cash wrapped in rubber bands in a backpack in the cargo area. The sheriff’s office estimates the drugs had a street value of about $50,000.

Both men were arrested and charged with felony trafficking by possession of MDMA, felony trafficking by transport of MDMA and misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Bond was set at $350,000 each.
