Virginia Man Charged After Stolen Credit Card Used: Sheriff
Security camera footage allegedly showed the Roanoke, Virginia man breaking into a vehicle. A stolen credit card was later used, ICSO said.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A Roanoke, Virginia man was arrested and charged with breaking into a vehicle and stealing credit cards in northern Iredell County, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
The theft, which occurred at Pine View Buildings located in the 900 block of Tomlin Mill Road in Statesville, was initially reported to the sheriff’s office around 6 p.m. Sunday evening. The victim told the responding deputies that several items, including credit cards, had been taken from a vehicle.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies had received a call earlier that same day from someone at the business location who reported a suspicious person on the property. Following that earlier call, deputies located the suspect and identified him as Wayne Donta Harper, 32, of 4th Street in Roanoke, Virginia.

Following the theft report, authorities reviewed security camera footage. “While reviewing video footage, the suspect was seen breaking into the vehicle,” ICSO said in a statement. “After reviewing the footage, the suspect was the same person identified as Harper from earlier in the day.”
Deputies located Harper when he attempted to use one of the stolen credit cars at Love’s Truck Stop in Statesville. He was detained and questioned at the truck stop.

“Harper admitted to taking the wallet and returned it to the deputies,” ICSO said.
He was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle and felony larceny after breaking and entering. His secured bond was set at $15,000.
