Volunteers Sought For Cemetery Clean Up In Mooresville
The Town of Mooresville is seeking up to 20 volunteers to help remove litter and vegetative debris at the historic cemetery.
MOORESVILLE, NC — The Town of Mooresville is seeking volunteers to help spruce up the town’s oldest African-American church cemetery.
Town officials are organizing the cleanup of the Watkins Chapel AME Zion Church cemetery, which is located at 650 Ash Alley adjacent to Green Acres Cemetery, as a Martin Luther King Day community service project on Saturday, Jan. 18.
“We will need up to 20 people to help remove litter and clear vegetative debris from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. All equipment and gloves will be provided by Park Services,” the town said.

Participants in the clean-up event who are younger than 14 must be accompanied by an adult, the town said.
As of Jan. 9, five volunteers had registered for the event. Those interested in volunteering may sign up here.
