Want To Vote By Mail? Deadline For Registering To Vote Is Oct. 9

If you want to vote by mail, the deadline for registering to vote is Friday, Oct. 9, Iredell County Board of Elections said.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — Voters in the upcoming general election, particularly those who intend to vote by mail, must register to vote by Friday, October 9, Iredell County Board of Elections said.

The voter registration form is available online. The deadline for registering is 5 p.m. Oct. 9.

If you miss the Oct. 9 deadline, there is still opportunity to register. Voters will also be able to register and vote at the same time during One-Stop early voting scheduled at six polling sites around the county. One-stop early voting begins Oct. 15 and runs through Oct. 27.

County election officials will begin mailing out absentee ballots for the general election on Friday, Sept. 4. The last day the board of elections may send out a ballot by mail is Oct. 27.

As of Aug. 17, the Iredell election board had received more than 4,000 requests for mail-in ballots, indicating a greater interest in mail-in voting in the county. By comparison, county election officials sent out a total of 4,256 mail-in ballots for the 2016 general election.

How To Request A Mail-In Ballot

  • Forms requesting a mail-in ballot are available online.
  • Forms must be signed by the voter and may be returned by the voter, a near relative of the voter or a verifiable legal guardian.
  • Forms may be mailed to the Iredell County Board of Elections, 203 Stockton Street, Statesville, NC 28677
  • Voters may call the Board of Elections at 704-878-3140 for additional information.
