Wiener Takes All: Dachsund Racing Set For Saturday In Downtown Mooresville

MOORESVILLE, NC -- Wiener racing is returning to downtown Mooresville this weekend with Dachshunds set to compete in four events for charity Saturday.

Area wiener dogs will race their hearts out (or not) at this annual event, which is raising money for Lake Norman Humane. Puppies ages four months to a year old will race 25 feet, juniors and adults will separately race a distance of 35 feet and senior pooches 10 years of age and older will race 25 feet.

Entrants will be divided into heats consisting of six dogs, with the winners of each advancing to semi-finals, then on to ultimate division winner. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest news in Mooresville — or other neighborhoods. And iPhone users: Check out Patch's new app.)

Also planned is a “Best Dressed” and “Cutest” contest. The fun begins Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the event site located at the corner of East Central Street and North Church Street in downtown Mooresville.
