Today's riddle: What do you call somebody who crosses the ocean twice and doesn't take a bath? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Raleigh Man Accused of Breaking Into Fire Truck Also Charged With Impersonating Police Officer (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Raleigh man is facing felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say he broke into a City of Raleigh fire engine, damaged its windshield, and tampered with firefighting equipment, raising concerns about emergency readiness. Court records also outline earlier, separate allegations of police impersonation, trespassing, and fleeing officers, with all charges still pending and the man presumed innocent.
2. New transit pass available across Piedmont region (nsjonline.com) — If you ride the train between Raleigh and Charlotte, a new free Rail & Ride Pass now lets you hop onto GoRaleigh and GoTriangle buses for a full year at no extra cost. The pass, included with NC By Train tickets, also links to several Piedmont and Charlotte transit systems, making car-free travel across central North Carolina much easier.
3. Triangle gas station offers 20 cents off per gallon. How new prices compare (heraldsun.com) — Raleigh drivers can get up to 20 cents off per gallon at BP and Amoco stations on Fridays through Jan. 29 by linking an Amazon Prime account to BP's Earnify app. The deal still leaves prices at the Midtown Raleigh BP above the state average and higher than nearby Costco, but it offers a modest break during a period of elevated fuel costs.
4. Nicole M. Clagett (abc11.com) — A caregiver advocate closely tied to Duke Health has built innovative caregiver support programs that reach families across the Triangle, including Raleigh. Her work has earned honors such as the Raleigh Media Award and Duke's Presidential Team Award, and she regularly shares practical caregiving advice through local TV and radio segments that residents can follow for ongoing support.
