• Operation Spring Cleaning nets 158 total charges (rrspin.com) — Roanoke Rapids police led a multi-agency “Operation Spring Cleaning” that produced 187 traffic stops, 158 charges, several arrests, and seizures of drugs, guns, and cash. Chief Lawrence Wiggins says similar enforcement efforts will continue at random times to keep impaired drivers, illegal firearms, and narcotics off local streets. 
• Woman charged with first-degree murder in Halifax County shooting (wnct.com) — A woman from Roanoke Rapids has been charged with first-degree murder in a February shooting that left a man dead in his work truck along Highway 48 in Halifax County. Deputies arrested the 26-year-old suspect on May 10, and she is being held without bond ahead of a May 27 court date.
• Grenade found during Weldon stop determined not to be live (rrspin.com) — A Roanoke Rapids man was arrested after Weldon police found a suspected grenade in his vehicle during a Friday traffic stop; state investigators later determined it was not live. He now faces multiple charges, including weapon of mass destruction and evidence-related counts, and remains held in Halifax County without bond ahead of a May 28 court date.
