4. 5. Moderate Roanoke Rapids Dam flows produced similar ecological benefits to higher releases (energiesmedia.com) — Researchers working at Roanoke Rapids Dam found that medium water releases into the bypassed Roanoke River channel provide similar ecological benefits for shad, eels, and mussels as much higher flows. For Roanoke Rapids residents, the findings shape how the river is managed for both energy and habitat over the next 18 years.
