RRPD seeks 18-year-old in Clinton Street shooting of juvenile (rrdailyherald.com) — Roanoke Rapids police are searching for 18-year-old Tri'Ali Hyman in connection with a September 6 shooting on Clinton Street that wounded a 17-year-old and struck an occupied home. Investigators say Hyman and a juvenile accomplice allegedly fired from a vehicle, and warrants have been issued for serious felony charges. Residents are urged not to approach him and to call law enforcement or Crime Stoppers with any sightings or tips.
   

2. Apparent bullying within RRHS football program a criminal matter, chief says (rrspin.com) — Roanoke Rapids police are treating an apparent bullying incident involving a Roanoke Rapids High School football player as a criminal matter and are actively investigating what happened in the locker room on September 24. Officers first learned of the case when the injured juvenile, a team member, was taken to ECU North Hospital. Parents and players with information are urged to contact RRPD or Halifax County Crime Stoppers.
   

3. ECU Health North nurse receives DAISY Award (rrdailyherald.com) — In Roanoke Rapids, ECU Health North Hospital nurse Sarah Mercer has been honored with the international DAISY Award for her exceptionally compassionate care. A former surgical patient described how Mercer's calm reassurance and empathy eased intense pre-surgery fears and made recovery brighter. Hospital leaders say her work reflects the high standard of patient-centered care local families receive there.
