Now leading the African American Heritage Museum of Rutherford County, he’s preserving local Black church history while searching for a new permanent museum home. 
• Tena Johnson Hernandez, age 64, of Rutherfordton (rutherfordweekly.com) — Rutherfordton is mourning the passing of 64-year-old resident Tena Johnson Hernandez, a devoted homemaker and R-S Central graduate who died on June 18. Her husband, daughters in Rutherfordton and Marion, and a large extended family will remember her privately, with online condolences hosted by Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services.
• Minnie Scism-Dulaney, age 77, of Rutherfordton (rutherfordweekly.com) — Rutherfordton has lost 77-year-old resident Minnie Scism-Dulaney, a longtime textile and healthcare worker who passed away June 14. Her sons, including one living in Rutherfordton, along with grandchildren and great-grandchildren, will honor her at a family gathering to be announced, with Harrelson Funeral and Cremation Services assisting.
