Funded by a Tryon Fine Arts Center grant, the project helped students show how habitats, organisms, and food chains all connect, while also building their creativity and problem-solving skills. 
• Polk County educators chosen for Slater Excellence in Teaching Awards (tryondailybulletin.com) — A Saluda Elementary teacher, Jennifer Goforth, is among nine Polk County educators receiving 2026 Slater Excellence in Teaching Awards, funding advanced literacy training. Her UFLI-focused project aims to boost reading success for Saluda students, while other recipients pursue international travel and conferences to bring fresh ideas back to local classrooms.
