• Sunset Beach police remove 400-pound alligator from street (wect.com) — Sunset Beach police recently wrangled and relocated a nearly 11-foot, 400‑pound alligator that was blocking a local roadway during peak mating season. Officers licensed through the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission safely moved the animal and are reminding residents that alligators are protected, more active this time of year, and should be reported to police or 911 if they pose a threat.
