• All aboard the bridge: Waxhaw ‘train man' watches them roll by with fellow railfans (qcnews.com) — A Wesley Chapel railfan, Austin Plattenberger, is among the locals who regularly gather on Waxhaw’s historic overhead bridge to watch massive freight trains roar beneath their feet. Led by longtime “train man” and former Amtrak worker David Carriker, families from nearby towns share the rush, noise, and nostalgia of more than a thousand trains passing by each year.
