2 Ohio Companies Announce Layoffs This Week
An Ohio manufacturing plant and a large convention center announced planned layoffs.
BRUNSWICK, OH — ARaymond Tinnerman Manufacturing and the Greater Columbus Convention Center both announced layoffs this week, according to filings with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.
Both groups blamed the economic pinch caused by COVID-19 for the decision to shrink workforce. Both companies said layoffs would be permanent.
ARaymond Tinnerman Manufacturing said it was closing its Brunswick plant and gradually laying off 54 employees. Layoffs will occur between August and February 2021.

The plant is located on W. 130th Street. Company officials said shuttering operations was a "difficult decision."
"The discontinuation of operations at the plant is primarily due to a decrease market demand outside the control of the company and the Coronavirus Pandemic," the company said in its filing with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.

The Greater Columbus Convention Center said state orders mandating the closing of large events and the temporary shuttering of convention centers led to an unforeseen economic downturn. Convention Center operations said the majority of this year's planned events have been canceled.
"As a result of the substantial reduction in operations, 136 employees are being laid off," convention center leaders said in a letter to the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services.
All layoffs will be done concurrently at the convention center.
