She says sustainability and responsible waste reduction are vital to Avon Lake’s long-term health and economy, and plans to advance practical, forward-thinking materials management strategies for communities across Ohio. 
• Love-A-Stray Dog Rescue 20th Anniversary Big Splash Fundraiser (thevillagernewspaper.com) — Dog lovers can bring their pups to the 20th Anniversary Big Splash fundraiser on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Avon Lake Municipal Pool. The City of Avon Lake opens its Aquatics Center to support Love-A-Stray, with online preregistration discounts, free swag for early sign-ups, local pet vendors, concessions, and all proceeds helping rescue more dogs.
• Lake Catholic vs. Avon Lake football: Cougars edge Shoremen, 14-13 (morningjournal.com) — Avon Lake’s Shoremen dropped a heartbreaker at home, falling 14-13 to Lake Catholic despite a strong defensive effort and multiple late chances to take the lead. The game featured clutch plays, key penalties, and two Avon Lake field goals in the second half, leaving the team 0-2 as it prepares to travel to Medina Highland in Week 3.
