• Big Boy No. 4014's Northeast Ohio route is set: See the towns it will roll through (cleveland.com) — Avon Lake residents will get a rare chance to see Union Pacific’s massive Big Boy No. 4014 steam locomotive roll right through town along the Lake Erie shoreline on June 8. The train won’t stop here, but it will be visible between official whistle stops in Lorain and Euclid, with a second pass through Northeast Ohio planned in July. 
• Amherst baseball: It's been two years without a loss, and Cael Charles just keeps getting better (morningjournal.com) — Amherst’s dominant baseball run has included a rare rough outing against Avon Lake, when standout pitcher Cael Charles surrendered four earned runs but still got plenty of help from his offense. Since that game, he’s bounced back with shutout performances as the Comets push toward a state title, keeping Avon Lake firmly in the conversation as one of their toughest tests.
