AVON, OH β€” Joining 26 other school districts in Ohio, the Avon Schools have been named winners of the state's Overall A Award. The award is given for districts that excelled in the metrics measured by the annual state report cards.

"What we accomplish with our students is truly a team effort that includes our staff, students, families and community. Our focus will always remain on the academic and social and emotional development of our students as we prepare them to be successful throughout life," said Avon Superintendent Mike Laub in an email to Patch.

Laub noted the state's report card metrics don't encompass everything a school district does. Instead, the district wants to do everything possible to help students grow academically and emotionally.
