Avon Swenson's Will Open October 1

AVON, OH — The city's new Swenson's drive-in will open October 1, the company announced on social media. Avon residents have been abuzz since the burger chain said it would expand into the city.

Construction on the Avon restaurant, located at 36041 Main Street, began in early June. The company stoked excitement for their opening by bringing the Swenson's Food Truck to town and selling lunch to residents. Proceeds from the lunchtime sales went to Avon's Every Child's Playground.

News of Swenson's expansion into Avon emerged in April, 2018. City Councilwoman Tammy Holtzmeier shared the initial plans for the restaurant on her social media.

Swenson's recently opened its second Cuyahoga County restaurant — in University Heights — and has recently opened a location in North Olmsted.

The restaurant has created a devoted, fanatical following. Cleveland's east side suburb residents were ecstatic when the University Heights location was announced and the restaurant has been packed since opening. A similar response should be expected in Avon.
