Revitalization is the name of the game for the city. In an email, Ted Esborn, Avon Lake's economic development director, said "This land is in a strategic location for the City’s effort to bring vitality to Lake Road west of Moore Road."
In his email, Esborn goes on to say that the city identified parts of Moore Road as a "priority redevelopment" area. Specifically, the city is targeting the south portion of Lake Road from Moore Road to Artstown Plaza, with an eye toward revitalization.

"The property that we have acquired is a significant piece of that priority area, and improves the City’s position moving forward with other property owners, businesses, and developers. The timing of this purchase also works well with our upcoming creation of a new Comprehensive Land Use Plan. With that we can memorialize our plan turn this priority area into a district with redevelopment opportunities," Esborn's email said.
