Meet Avon Police At Peace, Love & Little Donuts

Residents can sip a cup of coffee and chat with police officers during an upcoming event.

AVON, OH — Avon residents can get to know the men and women who patrol their city during National Coffee with a Cop Day. Police officers will be hanging out at Peace Love & Little Donuts on October 2, eager to make conversation with the public.

Coffee with a Cop is a nationwide event that is designed to break down the barriers between police and the public they serve. There are no agendas, no speeches and no approved questions. Residents can simply pop in, talk to a cop about anything they like, and then leave.

The Avon event will be held at Peace Love & Little Donuts, 37300 Detroit Road, on October 2. The event runs for 90 minutes and starts at 8 a.m.

Coffee with a Cop originated in California in 2011, according to the event's website. With shifting populations and a deluge of content on social media, police were looking for a way to re-establish a bond of trust between officers and the community. The answer was simple: a cup of coffee.

Eight years after the first Coffee with a Cop event, the program has spread throughout the U.S. and into Canada, Latin America, Europe, Australia and Africa.
