• I-90 ramp closure will begin Sept. 28 (cleveland.com) — If you commute from Avon, expect new I-90 traffic changes starting Monday, Sept. 28, when the westbound exit ramp to Ohio 57 in Elyria closes for two weeks as part of the widening from Avon to west of Elyria. Drivers will be detoured farther west before looping back, while another ramp closure at Ohio 254 in Sheffield is set to end Wednesday.
   

• High school cross country: Westlake girls 'ecstatic' after finishing second at venerable Boardman Invitational (morningjournal.com) — Avon High's boys cross country team turned in a strong performance at the massive Boardman Spartan Invitational, finishing sixth in the Division I race with a tight scoring pack. Local runners from Westlake, Bay, Keystone, Rocky River and others also posted standout times, giving Lorain County and west-side programs valuable experience on the regional championship course.
