Northeast Ohio Contractor Sued By State For Complaints
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost filed a lawsuit against the contractor claiming he has rip-offed homeowners.
AVON, OH — A contractor accused of ripping off Northeast Ohioans, including homeowners in Avon, is being sued by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost. The lawsuit claims the contractor did business under a variety of names and bilked homeowners out of $150,000.
Thomas Cutura, of North Royalton, is accused of failing to deliver promised services, or refunds, after accepting down payments from customers. Yost said his office has 11 unresolved complaints focused on Cutura's businesses.
According to the lawsuit, Cutura operated under several business names, including Assurance Roofing and More, Avon Cabinets Direct, Avon Wholesale Cabinets, Cabinets Direct, Mid Ohio Cabinets, Midwest Cabinets and Ohio Capital Cabinets.

“This guy changes his company name like he changes his underwear – and for the same reason,” Yost said. “His business practices and reputation stink.”
The lawsuit asks the court for an order requiring Cutura to reimburse customers and pay civil penalties, as well as court costs. The lawsuit also asks Cutura be banned from running a business in Ohio until his debts are paid.

Attempts to reach Cutura on Wednesday were unsuccessful. In November 2018, he responded to reports of ignoring jobs by telling News 5 he was working with the Ohio Attorney General and described himself as a "hard working businessman that strives to help the customer and support my family."
