Online Fraud Strikes In Avon Lake: Police Blotter

AVON LAKE, OH — Police are investigating an online fraud attempt, after someone illegally gained access to a woman's digital shopping account with a catalog retailer. Investigators have gathered initial information on that case, and detectives are now following up.

Fraud, Jan. 26 — Someone illegally gained access to a woman's Montgomery Ward shopping account. The thief then made purchases through the woman's account. When the woman noticed the illicit activity, she contacted police. Initial investigation has been completed and the Avon Lake Detective Bureau is now handling the case.

Death Investigation, Jan. 29 — A man with health issues was found dead by his mother.

Traffic Complaint, Jan. 30 — Police stopped a Chevrolet Silverado that was pulling a trailer on Walker Road. The trailer had no rear license plate, so the driver was cited for that offense. The driver was also cited for violating local towing requirements.
