Pickup Truck Smashes Into Pole In Avon Lake, Driver Life Flighted
The truck suffered heavy damage and was emitting smoke when police arrived at the scene.
AVON LAKE, OH — A gold pickup truck smashed into telephone pole and stone wall at the intersection of Lake Road and Avon Belden Road, according to police reports. The driver was flown to a hospital for treatment after the accident.
At 5:50 p.m. on May 29, police were called to an accident on Lake and Avon Belden roads. When officers arrived, a gold Ford Ranger was coughing smoke. The truck had been badly damaged after smashing into a telephone pole and stone wall.
When officers arrived the driver was unconscious. Witnesses were tending to the driver, who was taken via helicopter to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Police said the driver has been accused of operating a vehicle while impaired, reckless operation, and reasonable control of a motor vehicle. Court records show he has also been accused of possession of drug paraphernalia for marijuana.
The driver has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
