• West Clermont School District addresses online threats, reports of student with gun at Middle School (wcpo.com) — West Clermont families in the Batavia area are being briefed after several recent safety scares at West Clermont Middle School, including a false report Thursday by an 11‑year‑old claiming a student had a gun. Deputies confirmed no weapon in that case, but a separate incident last week did involve a student bringing a gun in a backpack, plus multiple non‑credible social media threats. The district is boosting law‑enforcement presence, mental‑health support, and reviewing additional security measures.
   

• ‘He deserved to come home': 4 people indicted in hit-and-run that killed father of 5 (fox19.com) — Four people have been indicted after a 28‑year‑old father of five was killed in a May hit‑and‑run on Old State Route 74 near Olive Branch Cemetery Road in Batavia. Investigators say he was walking just minutes from home when a vehicle hit him and drove off, leaving his family desperate for answers. The suspects now face felony charges and are due in court October 6.
   

• Batavia Township man pleads not guilty in assault case where he was also struck by a vehicle (wcpo.com) — A Batavia Township man has pleaded not guilty after prosecutors say he assaulted a woman on Wooded Ridge Drive in August, then was struck by a vehicle minutes later. Deputies say he repeatedly hit her, blocked her from leaving, and pointed a gun at her before another man allegedly drove into him. The judge set his bond at $750,000 as both assault and vehicle‑strike cases move forward.
