Maltz Museum Affirms Mission After Pittsburgh Synagogue Attack

"This horrific act is a reminder of why our museum exists, to build bridges and create cultural compassion," the museum said.

BEACHWOOD, OH — In the wake of the tragic shooting at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage is reminding everyone why it exists: to create connections between people and to reduce hate and ignorance.

Eleven people were killed when a lone gunman burst into the Pittsburgh synagogue and opened fire. The Anti-Defamation League has said it may be the deadliest attack on the American Jewish community in history.

"This horrific act is a reminder of why our museum exists, to build bridges and create cultural compassion. Our doors are open and we encourage everyone to join us here and work to stop the hate. We must never stop working to build the kind of inclusive society in which all people of all faiths and backgrounds are valued and respected," the Maltz Museum said in a statement.
