1. The Challenge Staffing the Clinic (bcomber.org) — Beachwood High School students are frequently finding "no nurse today" signs, as the building relies on substitute nurses with limited hours and office staff who cannot provide medical care. District officials say they're interviewing additional nurses and training staff for emergencies, but students describe missed care, early dismissals, and worries about handling chronic health issues during the school day.

2. Man throws water on mall security, then disobeys order to leave: Beachwood Police Blotter (cleveland.com) — Beachwood residents can see how police recently handled several local incidents, from a man banned for life after confronting security at Beachwood Place to a disputed membership at Lifetime Fitness and a hit-skip crash on Green Road. The blotter also details a shoplifting arrest at Dillard's, offering a snapshot of late-September crime around town.

3. Hindu Temple in Richmond Heights vandalized (clevelandjewishnews.com) — A Richmond Heights Hindu temple was struck by bricks on Oct. 2 while worshippers were inside, shattering windows but causing no injuries, and police have already arrested a suspect. Beachwood's U.S. Rep. Shontel Brown condemned the attack during Hindu Heritage Month, urging respect for all faiths and calling for the community to stand against hate and ensure local worship spaces remain safe.

4. Northeast Ohio Jewish community gathers to mark three years since Oct. 7 attacks on Israel (wkyc.com) — Beachwood hosted a standing-room-only gathering at the Mandel JCC's Stonehill Auditorium, where Northeast Ohio's Jewish community marked three years since the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel. Speakers emphasized unity, remembrance, and hope as attendees lit candles for affected Israeli communities and left carrying individual memorial candles bearing victims' names.

5. American Woodmark to remove assembly operations in Gas City, cut 207 jobs (insideindianabusiness.com) — Beachwood is set to become the corporate home of cabinet maker MasterBrand, which is consolidating operations after a merger and shifting some work from Indiana while cutting 207 assembly jobs there. For Beachwood residents, the headquarters move could mean more executive and support positions based locally, along with a higher corporate profile and potential ripple effects on the city's business community.
