• Gilbert wants to be beacon of light for gay athletes (wnewsj.com) — Blanchester high school hurdler Casey Gilbert has finally qualified for the state track meet, competing Thursday at Ohio State’s Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Gilbert and his Blanchester coaches also share how he hopes to inspire other LGBTQ athletes from small towns by being open about who he is and pushing through years of setbacks.
