Boardman police respond to reported gun threat in business' parking lot (wytv.com) — Boardman police are investigating a reported gun threat after a driver allegedly displayed a handgun and threatened a man in a business parking lot on Boardman Poland Road, then followed him to a nearby fast food restaurant. Officers searched the surrounding businesses and lots Friday night but couldn’t find the green Ford pickup or its young occupants, and no suspects have been identified.

2. Canfield man indicted on felonious assault (vindy.com) — Boardman police and Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman are handling parts of a domestic violence case in which a Canfield man faces felonious assault and misdemeanor charges. A county grand jury also issued several other indictments involving residents from Boardman and surrounding communities.

Michele Marie Welsh, New Middletown, Ohio (wkbn.com) — Family and friends in our area are mourning Michele Marie Welsh of New Middletown, a longtime nurse and healthcare administrator remembered for her compassion and dedication. Her close-knit family includes a grandchild living in Boardman, and her loved ones are invited to share memories and condolences online or send flowers in her honor.

Bernie Kosar visits the Valley, thankful for local support (wkbn.com) — A well-known Boardman native, former Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar, returned to the Mahoning Valley this week to thank local fans for their support during his recent liver transplant. Speaking at a United Way fundraiser at the Lake Club in Poland, he shared how prayers and encouragement from Boardman and surrounding communities helped him through recovery.

5. OHSAA unveils full softball playoff brackets (vindy.com) — Boardman High School’s softball team enters the Division III playoffs as a No. 9 seed, opening against Youngstown East in the OHSAA brackets released Sunday. Several other nearby schools, including Austintown Fitch and South Range, also earned high seeds, setting up a busy regional postseason for Mahoning Valley teams.
