'I'm a kid': Canton police reviewing officer's detention of minor after video spreads (cleveland.com) — Canton police are reviewing an officer's actions after a viral video showed a handcuffed teen on a Highland Road NE porch during a search tied to recent Kia and Hyundai thefts. The youth was released after being cleared, while the wanted 18-year-old suspect was later found nearby. The police chief says the officer's conduct and communication are under review.
   

2. PHOTOS: Plane appears to have rough landing at Akron airport (fox8.com) — A small NetJets passenger jet had a rough landing at Akron-Canton Airport, ending up with its nose on the runway but no reported injuries. The airport temporarily closed one runway while emergency crews from Green responded and investigators from the Ohio State Highway Patrol took over. Flight data showed the plane circling the Canton-area airport several times before landing.
   

3. Canton man going to prison for assaulting, stomping on 63-year-old (cantonrep.com) — A 20-year-old Canton man has been sentenced to six to nine years in prison for a June 18 assault that left a 63-year-old man unconscious and hospitalized. Prosecutors say the victim was knocked down during a fight and then stomped in the head, with the case moving from Canton Municipal Court to Stark County Common Pleas. A grand jury reduced the original attempted murder charge to felonious assault.
   

4. Operation Northern Shield arrests 680 people, including 48 in Akron (cantonrep.com) — A major federal and local crime sweep across northern Ohio targeted high‑risk offenders, with arrests and gun and drug seizures reaching communities including Canton. Officials say the multi‑agency "Operation Northern Shield" focused on people with violent histories or felony warrants, aiming to curb summer crime. One suspect tied to a Canton homicide was among those arrested.
