📰 News we're reading

• Scratch those plans for a downtown Canton steakhouse (centredaily.com) — Plans for Scratch Steakhouse and Lounge to open next month in downtown Canton have collapsed, leaving the former Doc's Bar & Grille space without a new tenant. Reporting shows the chef's previous Scratch locations in Louisville and Orrville accumulated significant unpaid taxes, rent, and other debts, and questions remain about how he would have secured a liquor license for the Northmark building site.

• Highway Patrol investigates plane crash along Route 225 near Alliance (thesuburbanite.com) — A small skydiving plane overshot the runway at Canton Airsports along Route 225 near Alliance after dropping jumpers, closing part of the road while investigators worked the scene. The pilot, the only person aboard, was reportedly not seriously hurt but taken to a hospital as a precaution, and both the Ohio State Highway Patrol and FAA are reviewing what happened.

• Canton Teen Injured in Motorcycle Crash on State Route 511 (ashlandcountypictures.com) — An 18-year-old Canton man was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after losing control of his motorcycle and colliding head-on with a pickup on a curve near State Routes 511 and 302 in Ashland County. Troopers say he was wearing a helmet, was awake and talking at the Mansfield hospital, and that drugs and alcohol are not suspected in the crash.
