US Paper Mill LLC to restart papermaking at Chillicothe mill (highlandcountypress.com) — Papermaking is set to return to Chillicothe as U.S. Paper Mill LLC restarts production on the mill’s “Chief” paper machine by December and begins hiring, prioritizing former workers. With 180 employees already on-site and up to 350 new paper jobs projected, the move could significantly boost local employment and revive a longtime industrial cornerstone.

2. Chillicothe trolley sets October schedule, shortens hours for Halloween (sciotovalleyguardian.com) — Chillicothe’s free downtown trolley will keep its usual Friday and Saturday schedule through most of October, but will shut down early on Halloween to accommodate trick-or-treat and the Jaycees’ parade. Riders should also note skipped Enderlin Circle stops during the Halloween Festival and can track the trolley in real time via the Ride Pingo app.

Chillicothe chamber of commerce calls for data center framework (nbc4i.com) — Chillicothe’s Ross Chamber of Commerce is urging city leaders to adopt clear rules for future data centers now that a moratorium has been lifted at the former paper mill site. The chamber’s letter to the planning commission suggests independent reviews of water, noise, and power use, plus penalties for exceeding limits, aiming to balance economic growth with infrastructure and neighborhood protections.

Chillicothe Police Crime Log – October 1, 2026 (sciotovalleyguardian.com) — Chillicothe police handled 19 calls on October 1, including thefts, traffic crashes, domestic disputes, truancy, and two warrant arrests along North Bridge Street. Incidents ranged from a terroristic threat complaint at the Western Avenue McDonald’s to vandalism on East 4th Street, giving residents a clear snapshot of safety concerns across several city neighborhoods.
