3 Cuyahoga County Residents Charged With Food Stamp Fraud

Two men from Cleveland and one from Westlake are charged with money laundering and food stamp trafficking.

CLEVELAND, OH - Charges have been brought against a trio of Cuyahoga County residents for the alleged illegal use of food stamps and money laundering. The group was arraigned on March 14 in the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

The three individuals arraigned were:

  • Nafez Assad, 54, of Westlake, three counts of illegal use of food stamps, two counts of money laundering, one count of theft and telecommunications fraud.
  • Irma Solivan, 42, of Cleveland, six counts of illegal use of food stamps, seven counts of money laundering, one count of theft and telecommunications fraud.
  • Ariel Santiago, 46, of Cleveland, three counts of illegal use of food stamps and three counts of money laundering.

Law enforcement eventually arrested the three men following an investigation into the Dollar Lots at 7120 Dennison Avenue in Cleveland. There were several reports of theft offenses and food stamp trafficking. The Ohio Investigative Unit and the Seven Hills Police Department led the investigation.
