40-Year-Old Man Shot in Chest and Butt While Withdrawing Money from ATM

CLEVELAND, OH - A 40-year-old Cleveland man is at MetroHealth after he was shot in the chest and butt in the early morning hours of Dec. 1 at 10900 Lorain Ave.

The man was withdrawing money from an ATM when an unidentified suspect grabbed him and demanded money. The two men struggled briefly and then the suspect fired and shot the 40-year-old in the chest. The suspect then fled the area, but as he was running he turned and fired another round, hitting the victim again.

Officers responded to the scene at about 1:30 a.m. The 40-year-old was still cogent when officers arrived and he was able to describe what had happened. Medics then treated the man and transported him to Metro.

Detectives are continuing to investigate what happened.
